Piercings & Tattoos

I just got my Helix pierced, and if you don't know what a helix is just look at the picture. I was a piercings freak when I was in college, I had 7 piercings in my ears and 1 nose piercing; my friends were pushing me to do a Monroe; but I got out of the phase quickly and now I only have 2 piercings my parents gave me in my ears and this new Helix piercing. I have been around the scene of tattoos and piercings and what I hate is seeing people get infections and what was meant to be a decorative beautiful thing to your beautiful body becomes a disaster and turns into a night mare. so this post is for you all who are thinking of doing a piercing or a tattoo, take care of the following steps.

Before you go on with your decision think about the commitment, if it's a piercing it's a bit easy cause you can just stick it out for a long while and it takes around a year to completely recover, depending on the period you had it. A piercing sometimes heals but leaves a scar so you have to think of that when doing a piercing are you committed to go to your job interviews with a fractured lower lip scar?. A tattoo is a whole different story, you have to REALLY commit, you can remove it with laser and that also leaves a scar. I would recommend not to have a tattoo in an obvious place like your face or nick cause it's just too much commitment and you're not lil wayn. If you want something that is just a hype of the moment get a henna tattoo, if you want something that will stay with you in the fun youthful times, get one of these tattoos that lasts for 3 years and then starts to fade. Think about it commitment!!

A tattoo or a piercing is also a huge responsibility because of the hygiene routines. You always need to have alcohol pads around, you need to know when to wash your skin and when can you remove the ring to clean; you don't need infections. Think about this, cause tattoos and piercings can sound like a fun rebellious things, however their work needs a mature person who can  commit to responsibility.

So you took the decision and you're welling to commit. Congratulations, you're mature enough to have your piercing or tattoo, at least you think you are.

First, go to a trusted place, don't go to a cheap place just to save up some money, you will pay double the money in getting what they ruin to be fixed. A trusted place can be a hospital, a plastic surgeon, a place where your friend got their tattoos or piercings and they are still alive. I myself go to a place called 1. 2. 3 in Mohandseen.
The doctor there has a special place for the piercings, he has everything sterllised all the equipment, he applies Anesthetic. There has to be good first aid for wounds or any injuries, there has to be good lighting, because as professional as they are they can still make a sight mistake.
Make sure the place is clean and they person who is doing you the tattoo or the piercing is wearing a pair of gloves.

Second, you need to clean the part of your skin that is getting tattooed or pierced before you go. Never eat, drink or smoke while you're getting a tattoo or piercing done, it could pollute the air and hence give you an infection and it could make you lose balance and get a scar.

Third, When you go home, always clean your tattoo or piercing with single use alcohol wipes and make sure you're getting an anti-bacterial cream to massage it daily to the tattoo or piercing. Follow the advice of the tattoo or piercing artist on when to start showering and washing the place you got your art, when can you take out the ring and it won't ruin the piercing.

Fourth, If your skin starts to be itchy, or you start to notice any swelling; you need to consult a dermatologist, as your skin might be rejecting a foreign material and it might be serious. A dermatologist will give you the right thing to do, please be honest with your dermatologist so s/he can really help you.

Finally, please be safe and make sure you're getting something that will make you happy and feel good about yourself, not something that will lead to serious illness.
