If you have a new room or you are trying to jazz up your room, you need to read this. I don't like dull room, and my trials of putting some posters up the wall wasn't the most successful attempt either. Now I know most of us are trying to get our rooms to lose that childish / teenager feel to it. Whether it's stuffed animals stacked on your shelves or Avril Lavigne posters above your desk, they need to be replaced with something that represents who you are currently. Here are 10 affordable, easy to do decor ideas.
1) Don't throw Mr Teddy
This one is really cool, cause the stuffed animals I have are like my childhood friends who I don't want to lose. I use my stuffed animals as my jewelry and glasses holder. The great thing about stuffed animals, is that their fabric is made of micro fibers and that means you can stick earrings and veil pins in them. They would look so cute wearing your sunglasses, necklaces, earrings, etc ... and you get to keep them with you for longer time.
2) Lace up
So if you want to have a cute vase of candle container or whatever, you can do this lace trick. All what you will need is some lace fabric, spray paint and the container of your choice. It could be an old fish bowl, a large glass, old jam jar or whatever. Cover the inside or the outside of your container -depends on how you want it to look- with lace. Spray all above the lace covered part with spray paint -color of your choice- and voila, you have a brand new vase of whatever. You can put flowers or candles inside, just make sure that the spray paint is not inflammable before you put the candle inside or just use an electric candle.
3) Foot Locker

Shoe essentials article, you know that you at least have 15 pair of shoes. Having them scattered around your room is no way for a lady to live. To keep all of your options in front of you all the time, you need to display them in a stylish way. Personally I had this kind of mini library, basically book shelves that I used to put all my school books in. Some people can take their mama's old Niesh. Freshen up the vintage piece with new paint and start building your shoes display. To personalize it, I recommend using the top of the piece as well, putting your designer show boxes, vases, candles, pictures frames, etc..
4)The curious case of pillow
If you don't live alone, your mom probably is the one who buys your pillow cases. I was sleeping on Ninja Turtles pillow cases till my first year of college. You can buy some boring plain pillow cases and jazz it up. Just get your self some fabric paint, scissors and papers. Draw any shape you like on the paper and cute it, then paste it on your pillow case. Paint the shape with the fabric paint. If you want to personalize it you can add your Initials.
5)Christmas all year long
These lights are usually used in Christmas, engagement parties, weddings, Ramadan, etc ... The lighting strings are really cute and freaking cheap. I think my mom got like the cord for 50 EGP or 75 EGP. Instead of just throwing away your money after whatever occasion has ended, you can invest in making your room look chic, romantic and unique.
You can just decorate your room with whatever way you want, above your bed, on your door's or even on your window. I love the yellow color more that anything cause it gives the illusion of stars glowing. I think if they have a pink one it would look so cool as well.
6) Pens and Brushes
You know how you have your makeup brushes, or your painting brushes or your pens in a jar or something and they just keep falling cause the jar is bigger than them and also they get tangled up, then this is for your. Get any glass container, jars, glasses, whatever. Add pearls or beads inside -buy them from Nomrosy at Zamalek - and stick your brushes and pens. Now you can just leave it like that or you can personalize it by gluing some satin bows or your initials or maybe the word brushes or pens.
7)Use what your moma gave you
Well, every girl's official "Gehaz" has a couple of these babies, whether it's your grandma or mama a silver tray will be a mission accomplished. Loving the fact that they are already looking all chic and romantic, however instead of using them for coffee and team; you can use them for makeup, jewelry or candles.
8) Graph-iti
I think it's a great way to show case your hidden talents -or your friend's hidden talents- and make your room personal and chic. Add a touch of whatever your interest is, in whatever color, material and size you like. It can range from a cute bunny or a star beside your light control or it can go big like a portrait of your role model or the world's map -maybe shade the places your visit in pink?- and if you get bored you can just roll over with a paint roll and make it disappear.
9)Perfect mannequin
If you are as obsessed with fashion as I am or if you are a fashion designer, you already will have one of these. It's just a great way to show off your best dress and jewelry in your room. It looks chic and is amazingly cheap from 3ataba, you can get it in your size so the dress can look like it's being showcased in a store. Put it beside your vanity or closet or shoes display to make it even look more stylish. It's a great way to throw your jackets, scarves,coats, etc.. as soon as you arrive without them piling up and looking bad.
10) Magnet Makeup
This one can be used for your makeup and toiletries. Just get any one frame and stick it on a metal board. Get magnet tape from any craft store and stick the sticky part of the tape to your makeup. You can display the makeup and toiletries that you can't find a place for and still make it look cute. A great thing about it, is that your makeup will never be lost and you won't get any stains on the containers cause they are all up in the air.
