So you just came back home, your make up is on and you want to sleep. Oh no , no no no girl, you can't even think of doing that to yourself. If you have ever heard that you can't sleep with your makeup on, the rumors are true, however I just don't like to believe everything I hear. After researching and trying several things, here is the skinny on undoing your makeup.
Leaving your makeup on to sleeping will lead to the following:
First, clogged pores; when your pores are covered with layers of makeup all night long, it won't be able to breathe or sweat. Your skin also produces oils that moisturize itself, having makeup layers in it's way ... that will confuse the whole process and you will end up with acne and blackheads *ewww*. There will be over breading of bacteria that will lead to an unhealthy skin.
Second, Waking up with panda eyes, oily skin and washed away lipstick. The eyeliner and mascara will mix and create a black crust on your eyes that will make it hard to wake up and looks disgusting. it will take more time to clean up your skin in the morning (where you're mostly in a hurry). Your pillow will suffer as well.
Third, Your lashes will end up dry and you might lose lash thickness over the time.
Scared? then you will sure read how to prevent yourself from all of these consequences:
Step 1: Get your hair out of your way, put in a bun a braid or whatever make sure it's not on your face or neck. Even if you're going to shower, you need to clean your face before you take your shower.
Step 2: Get your make up wipes or makeup remover and a cotton ball. I used to use a makeup remover from Johnson & Johnson @ 20 EGP; but I found out the makeup wipes are more practical and they are not messy; also they are more travel friendly. I use 2 wipes, one for my face, neck and lips and the other one is for my eye makeup and mascara. I am currently using Flormar alcohol free wet wipes @ 25 EGP. Be gentle and just massage your skin with it, as your skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of your face. Make sure you get all the your face and focus on your t-zone and eye lids, as these are mostly the places that has the most layers of makeup.
Step 3: Now if you're gonna shower, hop in there and do this step while in the shower if you want to save time, after your wash your face with cold water; as I mentioned in previous articles you need to use a non soluble clear, I am using Garnier @ 20 EGP. Now that you do everyday, however twice or at least once a week you should use a face scrub after you clean your face; just to get rid of any dead skin cells and the massage itself will get the blood vessels moving around your face making it look healthier, I am currently using Garnier Pure active-blackheads scrub @ 25 EGP, it's a great and it's not too harsh on the skin. After that wash your face with warm water and pat on it with a clean towel. Then you tone it like I mentioned in Makeup routine article,
Step 4: That's a trick actually I use for really clean lashes from any extra mascara left in them and actually to make them healthier. Dip your mascara wand (it comes with makeup brush sets) in a natural elongating lashes oil (Argan oil, Coconut oil, Olive oil or Almond oil) These are the best oils that helps getting thicker and longer eye lashes and also the. These oils are easy to find around the house or you can get them from the supermarket or the spices shop "Al 3attar". Dip the wand in the oil and apply it to your lashes like you do with mascara.
Step 5: Moisturizer your face like mentioned in Makeup routine article, however around the your eyes where the skin is thinnest and most potential to ... dare I say it, wrinkles. Don't tell me that we're in our 20's and it's too early to start thinking of that, I am not saying let's obsesses about it, but better safe than sorry. You use night cream for that, it contains active ingredients to keeping your skin around your eyes extra moisturized, currently I am using Garnier Skin naturals light over night cream @ 25 EGP, you can also use some Argan oil. Make sure to use your pinkie to tap on the area around your eyes to avoid the pressure.
Step 6: After you let your night cream and moisturizer dry, you brush your lovely teeth then apply lip balm, I am still using lip smacker @ 19 EGP. Delon as well offers good lip butter with many flavors @ 17 EGP. It keeps your lips hydrated, moisturized and prevent them from cracking.
Step 7: Grab a cotton ball and remove any access of oil or mascara off of your eye lashes, make sure to leave in just the right amount that your eyelashes would absorb without ruining your pillows or spurring on your face. And yes this is the last step, cause you needed to leave the access oil for a little time.
This might seem long, but trust me it doesn't take that much of time and it's really easy. It's better to keep your skin clean and healthy with all the makeup we put on and all the pollution we face here in Egypt. The most important thing is to get your beauty sleep, you need to sleep 6-8 hours in the night to have a healthy skin and healthy biological hour. Stay beautiful!
